In 2018, the European Union launched its landmark data privacy law, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). What followed can only be described as a wave of data privacy laws that swept the globe. Legislators from California to Brazil, to New Zealand have passed some form of data privacy law with the potential to impact thousands of businesses and organizations.

At ADCG, we’ve made it a priority to stay on top of these laws, and to highlight for our members the laws to which they need to pay attention. As a result, we’ve accumulated a substantial library of content that breaks down the data privacy laws (both pending and enforceable) that are most pertinent to governance professionals.

Now, for the first time, we’ve assembled much of the information we’ve collected about data privacy laws in one place. While this tool is by no means comprehensive, it highlights what we believe are the most important laws to pay attention to when building a governance program. We will continue to update this tool as laws and priorities change, and in the coming weeks and months will publish instructional guides to governance that use this tool.
