Certified Data Professional Certificate Course
May 16, 12:00 – 4:30 ET
May 17, 12:00 – 4:30 ET
The Association of Data and Security Governance (ADCG) is offering a certificate course for attendees to become a Certified Data Professional (CDP). The CDP course expands the role of privacy professionals, information security personnel, and risk managers and teaches them how to manage all of the data in an organization, not just data subject to privacy laws, such as personally identifiable information (PII), health data, or non-public financial data.
CDPs are responsible for data management across the organization, including the protection of confidential and proprietary data and intellectual property. They work with business managers, privacy and legal personnel, information security officers, and others to make sure appropriate controls and protections are in place to secure the data and ensure it’s available when needed. CDPs also may work with internal or external personnel on data analytics, providing advice and assistance with digital transformation efforts.
PwC’s 2021 Chief Data Officer Study surveyed 2,500 of the largest publicly traded companies and the results indicated that less than a quarter of the respondents have a chief data officer in a senior executive role. The study notes that this role is important to “maximizing the operational and commercial potential of data.”
The organizations on the front lines of the CDP role will enjoy a competitive advantage in operations and innovative uses of their data. When an organization only inventories and puts controls around data subject to privacy laws, they leave a significant amount of digital assets unattended and, often, unprotected. This hinders incident response, increases business interruption losses, and can harm the reputation of the organization.
The CDP certificate course will enable organizations to protect all of their data, including their “privacy data,” which is critical for operations and valuable to the company. The program is designed to help companies of all sizes and from all industry sectors improve their existing privacy data policies and procedures to include the best practices and standards defined by our industry leaders.
The CDP course covers:
- the components of a data management program (DMP);
- the roles and responsibilities of the CDP;
- data compliance requirements;
- leading best practices and standards;
- key activities in managing risks to data
The course will include interactive workshops that enable participants to apply what they have learned to real-life scenarios experienced by the participants. After completion of the course, participants will be qualified to lead the function within their organization.
An exam follows the course. Participants who pass the exam will receive a frameable certificate and digital badge for their e-signature, will become part of ADCG’s CDP Network, and will be qualified to lead the data privacy function within their organization.
This course is intended for:
