Scammers Using Fake Chat GPT Apps

OpenAI’s new AI chatbot, ChatGPT, has been heralded as a critical moment in the evolution of artificial intelligence. But the software’s popularity has spawned a host of fake mobile apps that charge users money and collect their information. MacRumors writes: “One app in particular, named “ChatGPT Chat GPT AI With GPT-3,” gives the impression it is the official app for the ChatGPT bot, but appears to have no affiliation to Open AI, the creators of ChatGPT, or the bot itself.”

EU Creates New Oversight Process For Regulators

Amid complaints over the slow pace of Ireland’s Data Protection Commission, the European Commission has created a new oversight process for EU regulatory authorities. According to the Wall Street Journal, “[t]he commission disclosed the new procedure in response to a complaint alleging that the commission itself had violated EU law by not properly overseeing the Irish privacy regulator. Under the new oversight process, regulators will provide the commission with detail on procedural and other steps they have taken in any big investigations, and when.”

Indiana Proposes Data Privacy Law

Indiana lawmakers have put forth several data privacy bills in 2023. According to JD Supra, it’s one of more than 30 states considering data privacy bills this year, including Hawaii, Iowa, and Kentucky. To read the full rundown click here
