ADCG General Membership...Open Meeting
"My Cousin Vinny"...and Many Friends
Wednesday - October 8, 2008
9:30 - 11:00 AM

Arts Development Council of Georgia (ADCG)
September General Membership/Open Meeting

Hosted by Monticello-Jasper Chamber of Commerce
and the Jasper County Arts Council

The Arts Development Council of Georgia (ADCG) will hold its next General Membership/Open Meeting in Monticello, Georgia, October 8, 2008, 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM at the Jasper County Visitors Center. The meeting will be jointly hosted by the Monticello-Jasper Chamber of Commerce and the Jasper County Arts Council. The ADCG General Meetings are currently being held bi-monthly throughout Central and North Georgia in an effort to promote its continuing membership drive.

The facilities are always crowded with current and prospective ADCG members coming together to promote and network in the Arts.

The courthouse scene from the play "My Cousin Vinny" will be a featured portion during this month's program. Members of the Jasper County Arts Council will also be presenting individual segments of "Two Minutes of Fame".

Nancy Arnold Wood, President/Executive Director, Monticello-Jasper Chamber of Commerce has been working hard to organize this meeting. She has arranged for the Simply Southern Tourism Association to join the ADCG in advance of its Noontime meeting, making it possible for this to be one of the best attended, most diverse meetings the ADCG has held in the past two years!

The successful 'Two Minutes of Fame' show-and-tell introduction exercise takes place at the Monticello Visitors Center, 119 West Washington Street, Monticello, Georgia. All artists participating are asked to bring a piece of their art (that they can hold in one hand) and be prepared to give a very brief talk on their art. There are usually a half-dozen or so participating.

Members of the Jasper County Arts Council are also planning to participate in this segment. Due to limited space and time...please contact Nancy Wood now to reserve your 120 seconds!

Special Presentation:

"My Cousin Vinny"...the Courtroom Scene - Several scenes from the movie version were filmed in Monticello...and took place on the steps and inside of the Jasper County Courthouse sitting so proudly on the Historic Square. Sage Edwards has adapted the screenplay from the movie and plans to have some very talented local performers bring this portion of the script to life...before our eyes!

Refreshments will be offered courtesy of the Chamber of Commerce and the two other participating groups. Plan to come early and join in the fun, entertainment and a full morning of networking with fellow artists and craft makers.

The ADCG three-point mission is cultivating a thriving economic environment for the creative expression and appreciation for the arts through entrepreneurial development, education and product marketing.

Any artist - visual, theater, musician, craft maker, arts advocate or corporations interested in joining, please send a check made payable to the Arts Development Council of Georgia, Treasurer Cary Fordyce, P.O. Box 56, Crawford, GA 30630. Include your your name, address, telephone number and e-mail address. Membership applications are online at http://www.adcg.org.
