ADCG Newest Member: Robert Lee Hicks, Geechee Folk Artist; Townsend, Georgia
Robert is a soldier in the US Army. From his hometown, Townsend, Georga, he's been drawing all his life and paints to celebrate his Geechee heritage. Robert puts arthritis in his fingertips by pulling sheets (his "canvases") over handmade stretchers.
Several of Robert's New Works on Canvas have been posted on hs Facebook Page (click). Traditionally, he's painted on sheets stretched taunt. While the color and quality of these images will make grown men shudder, the works speak for themselves. You can also view much of Robert Lee's work at http://www.georgiamadegeorgiagrown.com. Enjoy!
Specalist Robert Lee Hicks is now at Camp Spann in Afghanistan. Keep him in your prayers. Drop him notes (click) when you get a chance. He's itching to paint. He has a package of supplies on its way to him, but right now has nothing but time on his hands.
Welcome, Robert, to the Arts Development Council of Georgia. We wish you the best of success and accomplishment.
